Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I support Pro-Life to the fullest extent with the exception of risk to the mother. I am currently reviewing the possible except for violent rape victims, but still undecided. I, however, do highly support preventative measures for teens and young women of limited incomes. Ideally we need to eliminate the female's supposed need to have an abortion.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
I support shrinking the government and deficit spending. Additionally, I support restructuring our tax system to a mix of user tax and a reduced tiered income tax, to include reducing the corporate tax rate. I would support legislation to have more stringent accountability in the different branches of government and regulatory spending. I would also re-evaluate monies being spent on foreign nations and refugee programs. I would call for a review and audit of benefits programs and purge the rolls of violators.
Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Hmmmmm, good question. I personally have never benefited from a PAC. I know my opponent has, on many occasion, especially from unions. However to deny the existence of PACs for personal campaign reasons would smack of pettiness. I just don't feel qualified at this time to give a good answer.
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
Unknown Position Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
I didn't answer the last question because that could include the run of the mill recreational pot smoker. Our jails are crowded enough. If, however, they fail to respond to counseling or treatment, then yes, as a repeat offender I would consider a minimum sentence. Mandatory sentences should be predominately for non-violent drug pushers, manufacturers and distributors. The goal is to get the bad drugs off the streets and reduce accessibility.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
I support the free enterprise system to work without government interference. That includes making bad trade deals with other countries. I have no problem reducing corporate tax and give a one time grace period incentive for U.S. Corporations to return; otherwise, after that period they should be treated like a foreign import and taxed accordingly. I believe dramatically reducing regulatory burdens and fees on whole industries will create a job explosion. It's time we clean house and stop the sweet deals and paybacks. And most importantly, we need balanced trade.
No Do you generally support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
States want autonomy in running their education system, but I don't see any improvements being made. Here in Indianapolis there are many choices to choose from and it has become confusing to the average person to follow which system belongs to which community and of those which ones are performing better than others and why? Get rid of ISTEP! Teaching to a test and not to practicum is meritless. The child retains information long enough to regurgitate for the exam, beyond that it's meaningless. And Common Core has got to go! What happened to preparing our children for adulthood?
Yes Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
Yes Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
Unknown Position Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
I've done homework on these topics, and I'm still digging--no pun intended. The oil from Canada for the XL pipeline is considered to be very dirty oil. That oil would take more time to process and refine for use making it more costly. Then you have hundreds of miles of dirty oil pumping across the heartland of America. Hmmm. Fracking is highly dangerous and I would see it stop entirely. It also uses a metric ton of water that can not be recycled and reused--for anything! Wasting a precious resource for dangerous dividends...NO. I would consider other sources to investigate.
No Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I don't believe we are experiencing a climate change. I think that is a scheme for some rich folks to get richer. However, that doesn't mean that can't happen, if we are not good custodians of our planet. To that end, We need to have some regulatory oversight on some industries that emit pollutants, and work with those industry leaders on how we can safely protect our planet's future, their industry growth and future jobs. Throwing out the baby with the bathwater has never been a viable solution...to anything.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
No, I do not support any kind of gun-control other than having a background check and getting a gun permit. Period. I just advocate for gun safety--even for our youngsters. More accidents happen when children are unfamiliar with guns and haven't learn to respect them. I would push for more training and training centers across America...but never restrict gun ownership from law abiding citizens. I would like to see a national reciprocity law for gun owners traveling to other states within CONUS.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
The biggest waste of paper ever created by our government...and not read it? Whenever any government agency comes out with new regulations, policy or law that's longer than 25 pages, you know it chalked full of surprises that make the general public lose sleep at night. Open the markets up across states. The states were allowed to regulate this and they were afraid to get too involved...with something they didn't understand. Well tough. Now the states should have to work with industry leaders and the Fed to devise a series of options...and not a one plan fits most program.
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Hmmmm, a tuffie. As a woman of faith, I struggle with this one. I know that there many families that have been here for years and have established their lives and are good citizens. For them, I would want to ensure that their lives aren't disrupted. For those people who are more recently arrived, they should go back home, especially the children, they need to be with their parents. Aside from that, we definitely need to tighten our borders and empower our border patrol officers and do a better job of rounding up the criminal element that keeps returning.
No Do you support same-sex marriage?
Having said no, I do want to see legislation and a national law for same sex "Civil Unions". Our LGBT national community is full of vibrant, beautiful, talented, smart, savvy, skilled and loving people who feel just as strongly as any other citizen. And when it comes to matters of the heart, they should expect and receive no less than anyone else. However, Marriage is a religious institution forever declared between a man and a women. Therefore, a civil union for same sex partners would provide for their joining without infringement of any religious body or person.
Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Unknown Position Do you support increased American intervention in Iraq and Syria beyond air support?
This question is moot. If we were going to do it, we should have done it by now. Iran is now to strong a force to be reckoned with, and N. Vietnam, for all practical purposes already has that capability. Let's face it, lines have been drawn in the sand and sides chosen...except our administration didn't get that memo. To use military force now would require Congress to commit the country to war. That clearly is an option of last resort...when dealing with sociopathic killing heads of state with nuclear capabilities. We should be working on Plan B.
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Yes. And if they prove they can do a better job of investing for their retirement, I have no problem allowing them the option to divert all their SS into reliable retirement investment vehicles. I would, however, encourage that those monies be taxed dollars so as not to be taxed a second time when they need to start drawing from the funds and no longer have any earning power. This proposition would open a new industry of training and further empower people to take more control of their lives instead of the government.

Under a new tax structure there would be no other tax than a user and consumption tax and a payroll income tax. Other taxes, like, dividends and interest earnings would no longer be included. The income tax would be a tiered structure based on income levels. Loopholes and shelters would be eliminated so everyone would pay their "fair share". At the state and county levels there would be property taxes and other municipality fees and taxes as regulated by those entities.
My first priority would be to review, plan, persuade and implement the overhaul of current and old laws and regulations and move for Congress to rescind/repeal, or replace, those that are not working, or are useless and are costly to enforce/implement, or too costly to the public. Secondly, review regulatory policies that are constricting growth and pushing companies off shore to conduct a more lucrative business proposition. Third, work with other members of Congress to devise and implement plans/changes to our tax system, and health plan. Fourth, invest in our youth!!!
